Ask me anything
No question is too small.
If you're wondering about it, someone else has asked it too. And whatever isn't answered here — bring it to the free call.
Still wondering about something? Ask me directly — that's exactly what the free 15-minute call is for.

The first session is about getting to know you — what's bringing you in, your story, and what you're hoping for. We begin shaping a plan together. There's nothing to prepare; just come as you are.
Many of my clients are starting for the first time — and quite a few grew up in families where feelings weren't discussed at all. There's no "right way" to do this; I'll guide the process and go at a pace that feels comfortable. And handling things yourself, or leaning on friends, genuinely matters — but therapy offers something different: a trained, unbiased listener whose only agenda is you, with complete confidentiality and no social strings attached.
Sessions are fully online — secure, HIPAA-compliant video from anywhere in California. Research consistently finds online therapy as effective as in-person care, and most clients find it easier to open up from their own space — with no commute eating into your hour.
Yes, and yes. Sessions can be in English, in Mandarin (中文), or the natural mix that feels most like you. Some things are simply easier to say in your first language — that's always welcome here.
Not at all. My practice centers the multicultural experience — that's where my lived understanding runs deepest — but clients of every background are welcome. If what you've read here resonates, that matters far more than any label.
Fees & insurance
Your first 15-minute consultation is free. After that, therapy is a simple flat fee of $180 per 50-minute session. Credit, debit, and HSA/FSA cards all work. Details on the Fees & Insurance page.
I'm in-network with several major insurers. If I'm out-of-network for your plan, I'll provide a monthly superbill you can submit for reimbursement — many PPO plans cover a meaningful portion. Three questions worth asking your insurer: Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? What's my deductible? And what percentage of a 50-minute session (CPT code 90837) do you reimburse?我与数家主要保险公司有网络内合作(Aetna、Anthem Blue Cross、Blue Shield of CA、Cigna、Magellan、Oxford、UnitedHealthcare)。
No — I'm not offering a sliding scale fee at this time.
A protection you're entitled to by law. Under the federal No Surprises Act, if you're uninsured or paying out of pocket, you have the right to a written estimate of your expected costs — a Good Faith Estimate — when we schedule, before you've committed to anything. Learn more at cms.gov/nosurprises. 详情请见 cms.gov/nosurprises。
Life happens. Just let me know at least 24 hours ahead to cancel or reschedule and there's no charge. Within 24 hours, the full session fee applies — that time was held just for you.

Most clients begin with weekly 50-minute sessions — that rhythm builds momentum and trust. How long depends on the work: focused support around a specific stressor may take a couple of months, while the deeper family and identity patterns I specialize in often unfold over six months to a year. As things get lighter, we space sessions out — and there's never a lock-in.
Yes. Therapy is confidential and protected by law, with a few limited safety exceptions (such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others) that I'll explain fully in our first session. Nothing is ever shared with your family, your employer, or anyone else without your written consent.
Therapy — and this website — isn't built for emergencies. If you or someone you love is in immediate danger, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, 24/7, with interpretation available in Mandarin) or call 911. See the resources page for more support lines. For everything less urgent, I'm here.
